IN LOVE WITH ITALY
We are the Italian Institute.
The Italian Institute is a cultural and educational initiative devoted to promoting the Italian language and the heritage of Italy around the world. Founded on the belief that language is the key to understanding identity, history, and human connection, the Italian Institute offers high-quality resources for free to all who wish to master Italian or reconnect with their cultural roots.
At the core of the Institute is a passionate team of Italian language educators and content creators who combine academic rigor with real-life teaching experience and a genuine love for the Italian linguistic tradition.
We are proud to offer a carefully structured Italian language course that integrates grammar, vocabulary, listening skills, and cultural knowledge. This course is the fruit of years of dedication and feedback from learners globally. It reflects not only our educational method but also our mission to present Italian as a vibrant, evolving language. Our aim is to guide you with clarity and confidence through its richness—step by step—making your learning journey both enjoyable and inspiring.
Beyond language teaching, the Italian Institute is dedicated to sharing Italian culture in all its dimensions. Through our News section, we present to an international audience the latest in cultural life—spotlighting contemporary events, artists, musicians, writers, and innovative businesses, as well as timeless traditions and festivals.
We are continuously expanding and enhancing our materials, and we are sincerely grateful for the support and enthusiasm we receive from learners around the world. Your feedback helps guide our vision and sustain our growth.
Grazie for being part of our journey!

MARIO
Born and raised in Genova, she grew up surrounded by porticoes, pasta, and the lyrical flow of the Italian language. Living in a city where tradition and innovation walk side by side, she developed a deep appreciation for the stories, sounds, and soul of Italy—and found her purpose through its language.
She joined us with one clear goal: to make Italian more accessible and authentic. In a digital world overflowing with generic phrases and clunky translations, she’s committed to offering something real. And if her students walk away knowing how to use the congiuntivo with confidence and how to charm a nonna during Sunday lunch? Mission accomplished!
CATERINA
Caterina is someone who follows curiosity wherever it leads. What began as a move to pursue fashion quickly turned into a deep connection with Milan — a city whose energy, creativity, and pace shaped both her personal and professional life. Working alongside colleagues from all over the world, she naturally became the one sharing the history, culture and small everyday details that make Italy unique. Through these exchanges, her interest in teaching the Italian language also grew, not just as a means of communication, but as a way to express identity and culture.
Today, Milan remains her base, but her work takes her far beyond Italy’s borders. Traveling internationally, Caterina represents the best her country has to offer, blending style, craftsmanship, and cultural insight.

MATTEO
Matteo was born in Naples, in a neighborhood where every conversation is a performance and every phrase comes with a gesture. Raised in a household where the Neapolitan dialect mixed freely with standard Italian, Matteo developed a deep appreciation for the richness, rhythm and emotional power of languages from an early age. His passion led him to study Italian Literature and Linguistics in Rome, where he immersed himself in everything from Dante’s terzine to modern sociolinguistics and dialectology.
Beyond teaching, Matteo has worked as a writer, editor, and cultural consultant, contributing to Italian learning materials, developing curriculum, and offering workshops on Italian regional expressions. He specializes in connecting language to real cultural experience, from idioms heard in Naples' markets to expressions used in contemporary Italian film and pop music.

GIULIA
Giulia’s Italian is instantly recognizable by her distinct Roman accent, a voice shaped by years of living in the Eternal City. She has worked as an interpreter with high-level delegations and private companies, where precision, discretion, and cultural awareness are part of everyday life. Her ability to navigate complex conversations with clarity and confidence has made her a trusted presence in demanding professional settings. Within the team, her colleagues see her as a true point of reference — someone who offers guidance and expertise when you need it.
Outside of her work at the Institute, Giulia enjoys slowing down and spending time with her nephews, sharing curious stories about Rome, the city she has called home for the past forty years.

DIANA
Diana is the kind of person who makes a place feel alive the moment she talks about it. With an instinctive sense of direction and an eye for hidden gems, she knows exactly where to go for a great meal, a scenic walk, or an unforgettable evening. Her passion for languages naturally led her toward working with tourists, giving her the chance to share what she loves most: the character, flavors, and rhythms of her city Genoa, her region and Italy as a whole.
Outside of work, Diana says she enjoys simple pleasures that define the Italian lifestyle for her — long swims, sunny afternoons at the beach with her close friends, and trying our new restaurants with her boyfriend. Through the content on this website, she hopes to pass on that same sense of discovery, inspiring you not just to learn about Italy, but to experience it firsthand.

LUCA
Luca came to Venice for university and, somewhere along the way, found both love and a place that felt unmistakably like home. What was meant to be a chapter turned into a lifelong choice, and he has stayed ever since, fully immersed in the rhythm and history of the city.
A teacher by profession, Luca approaches each topic with curiosity and depth. He has a particular passion for history and the recreation of famous events and battles from Venice’s illustrious past.
When he’s not preparing our lessons or diving into historical research, Luca can often be found on the Grand Canal, practicing the art of gondola rowing!
